Able Works aspires to offer low-earning households “financial education, life skills and assets that enable one to live free from oppression and poverty.
In 2007, Able Works co-founders John Liotti and Marc Prioleau were interested in finding ways to break the chains of oppression and generational poverty. They wanted to challenge the inequalities they saw in the education, housing, and employment sectors. Unlike other nonprofits, Able Works does not provide short programs, but instead focuses on long-term programs that target asset development.
The FutureProfits program offers high school students financial education to support their future needs. Other programs include HouseAble, which seeks to help distressed homeowners in loan modification and/or rebuild credit, and LifeAble, which focuses on helping single-female-led households. Able Works seeks the most beneficial way to help individuals achieve their greatest potential.
