Friends of Hue is a San Jose-based nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief and disaster preparedness education to both local citizens and residents of the Vietnamese city of Hue. Its goal is to uplift and empower the underprivileged through economic, medical and educational initiatives.

The founders established Friends of Hue in 2000 to provide food and emergency shelter to flood victims in Vietnam. Since then, the foundation has partnered with many local organizations in pursuing socioeconomic initiatives, health initiatives and a children’s shelter.

While providing support in Vietnam, the organization also creates a sense of community and culture for Vietnamese American youths living in Silicon Valley. Every year, Friends of Hue organizes numerous culture events, leadership forums and workshops to connect youth with Vietnamese culture.
