An El Dorado County resident since age 4, Lori Parlin has governed through emergencies including the COVID-19 pandemic and its continuing effects, the declaration of a countrywide homeless crisis, and the 2021 Caldor Fire with its ongoing impacts. Together with the Board of Supervisors, Parlin created the Wildfire Resiliency Office to help residents with home hardening and defensible space. The biggest project in county history is taking place under Parlin’s watch: construction of the new Mosquito Bridge and Mt. Murphy Road Bridge, the latter to be completed by 2024.
Parlin has also led efforts to stop high-density projects in Shingle Springs and supports similar efforts in other communities. In 2012, she founded the Shingle Springs Community Alliance to give residents a voice in planning their own future. The SSCA became the umbrella organization to unite other groups in the area that were working to inform the public about imminent development projects. Parlin supports developing community plans that preserve each community’s unique characteristics and lifestyle.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in management information systems from California State University Sacramento.
First elected: November 2018
