Pioneer Community Energy is a community-owned provider of electricity. The company gives customers a voice in their electricity rates and programs because it is controlled by a board of locally elected officials, not distant shareholders. Pioneer is a partnership between Placer County and the cities of Auburn, Colfax, Lincoln, Loomis and Rocklin.

Beginning in January 2022, Pioneer Community Energy will provide energy services to residents and businesses of El Dorado County and Placerville.

The Pioneer Governing Board consists of elected representatives from Placer County Board of Supervisors, the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors, and the city councils of Auburn, Colfax, Lincoln, Loomis, Placerville and Rocklin. Pioneer is a local government, not-for-profit, joint powers authority. Public comments, concerns, and inquiries are important to Pioneer Community Energy; send communications to the Pioneer Community Energy Board of Directors at boardclerk@pioneercommunityenergy.ca.gov.
