The Georgetown Divide Public Utility District was formed on June 4, 1946. However, the origins of district facilities can be directly traced back to 1852 and the El Dorado, Pilot and Rock Creek Canal Companies, one of the first established water purveyors in the state of California. The heart of the district’s water supply system is the Stumpy Meadows Reservoir, a 20,000 acre-foot impoundment on Pilot Creek. The Georgetown Divide is located between the Middle and South Forks of the American River. To contact, call (530) 333-4356 or fax (530) 333-9442. After hours, call (530) 334-1001.
The District operates under a five-member Board of Directors elected at large for four-year overlapping terms. The board meets on the second Tuesday of each month. Unless otherwise notified, meetings are held in the district office and start at 2 p.m.
