Former Councilmember Robert “Bob” White was elected mayor of the city of Greenfield in the November 2022 election. His two-year term began in December 2022.
White has a strong business background, having operated his insurance and real estate business in downtown Greenfield for several decades. As mayor, he plans to use that business experience.
He says one of the largest issues facing Greenfield is its increasing population. He’ll want to use available resources and make smart revenue decisions going forward. Similarly, he says infrastructure, water, wastewater and power all need to be updated to allow for future development.
White has made community volunteering a personal priority and has served on local school boards for 20 years, including as president several times. He also is a member of the the Transportation Agency for Monterey County and Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority.
Notable quote: “It is important to me that we spend our taxpayers’ money wisely to add the most benefit to the community.” (Source: Monterey County Weekly)
