Lisa Swarthout has lived in Grass Valley for more than three decades. She has served on the Grass Valley City Council for 16 years, including two terms as mayor, and was elected in November 2022 to serve on the Nevada County Board of Supervisors for District 3.


Swarthout has fought against sprawl, worked to balance Grass Valley’s budget and helped restore historic buildings. Swartout credits her leadership for Grass Valley’s improved roads and sidewalks and its balanced budget. She worked to restore parks and protect the natural environment.


As a former local business owner, Swarthout is invested in the county's economy and the prosperity of the community.
