The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of Placer County and certain special districts. The five supervisors are elected by voters in their respective districts to serve staggered four-year terms. The board enacts ordinances and resolutions, adopts the annual budget, approves contracts, appropriates funds, determines land use zoning for the unincorporated area, and appoints certain county officers, including the county executive officer, and members of boards and commissions.

The Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a proclamation Tuesday declaring February as Grand Jury Awareness Month.“It is appropriate to recognize the efforts of those jurors, both past and present, who have volunteered their time and service to the Placer County Grand Jury,” the proclamation reads.

Placer County Health and Human Services, in partnership with the IRS and United Way, offers free tax assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
“We started 'The Placer Life' podcast to share stories we thought would be valuable for our residents that we didn’t have a place for elsewhere,” said Chris Gray-Garcia, communications and public affairs deputy director for County of Placer who has co-hosted the podcasts with Scott Sandow. “Podcasts, as a medium, let us tell longer, more detailed stories, and we’ve focused on stories that help convey something we feel is important for residents to understand.”
