The skiing crew of Ski for the Love has released its second film, “Home, Sick! Too Good to Leave,” shot entirely in the Tahoe Basin.

The 1930s was the breakout decade for alpine skiing in the United States, fueled by stiff leather boots, skis with metal edges, and, most importantly, mechanical rope tows.

“Weak Layers” is the newest ski movie to hit the hills. This female-driven ski comedy is co-written and directed by Katie Burrell and filmed around Tahoe.

“Light Tours of Tahoe, California + Nevada” has been released, detailing 64 backcountry routes in the Tahoe region by guide and avalanche educator Richard Bothwell. The guidebook is accessible to a range of skiers and riders and includes routes to minimize avalanche exposure.

The Auburn Recreation and Parks District Board of Directors voted Nov. 30 to create an artistic community wall at the Auburn Skate Park.

Guests who ski or ride in the Tahoe region can skip rental lines and have equipment delivered through Ski Butlers. The company is also donating 20% of fees for reservations made through the Tahoe Fund portal to support environmental projects.

Alpenglow Sports’ 18th annual winter speaker series kicks off with local freeskier Michelle Parker on Nov. 30 with her show “A Change in Perspective,” which documents her father’s battle with dementia and Parkinson’s.

The annual tradition sees the sports team reaffirm its “deep commitment to the incredible Sacramento community and create positive change,” said Sacramento Kings COO Matina Kolokotronis.
