A Rocklin citizen who has served the community on the boards of Rocklin Chamber of Commerce and the Rocklin Police Activities League, Dave Bass ran for a two-year term on the City Council in November 2022 and prevailed by just 401 votes over restaurant owner Matthew Oliver, who gained local notoriety for his challenges to the state’s pandemic restrictions.
Bass, who is familiar with the workings of city governance from his service on the Rocklin Planning Commission, received widespread support from past and present members of the Rocklin council as well as members of other local governments. A former deputy district attorney and a military veteran, Bass also was supported by the city’s police and firefighter unions. Bass is a member of the South Placer Rotary Club and a partner at a local law firm. Notable quote: “I ran a positive, honest campaign that attracted a diverse coalition. I was endorsed by Republicans, Democrats, Rocklin police and fire, the Rocklin Chamber. ... As I committed on the campaign trail I will serve with integrity, transparency and cooperation with our citizens and businesses.” (Source: Sacramento Bee)
