Ben Brown was appointed to the Lincoln City Council when no other candidates emerged before the filing period closed on Aug. 12, 2022. The council voted 4-1 to install Brown as the successor to outgoing Councilmember Alyssa Silhi when her term ended in 2022. The Lincoln News Messenger reported on the council’s action, noting that a staff report confirmed no one currently serving on the council resides in District 2. Although there was no election held, candidate Brown received an endorsement from the California Republican Party, along with District 1 Councilmember Holly Andreatta, who was also appointed to the council when no candidates emerged by the August deadline.
