Jan Clark-Crets’ roots in Loomis were planted in the 1960s, when her parents purchased property in town and founded the Indian Creek Country Club. She attended local schools and graduated from Del Oro High School—as did her daughter. She graduated from California State University, Sacramento (bachelor’s and master’s degrees) and worked with the Loomis Chamber of Commerce for many years. In 2018 she won a seat on the Loomis Town Council. On her campaign website, Clark-Crets wrote, “This is an exciting time for Loomis, but a critical one. We must make careful decisions about growth and economic development which are crucial for the well-being of our people and our town’s infrastructure; all while retaining the charm of Loomis that we all hold dear. We need to repair strained relationships with our neighboring towns. The Town of Loomis is something to be proud of and we need to conduct our town government with professionalism and a firm resolve to keep it that way.” In 2020 she served as mayor, an experience she told Gold Country Media was “such an honor for me and a privilege to serve as your mayor over the last year. We are in the best of hands with our town staff.”
