Newly elected to the Loomis Town Council in 2020, James “Danny” Cartwright grew up in Sacramento and Roseville, and has lived in Loomis for 15 years. At age 29, he joined the military. As he writes on his campaign site, “I took a pause from a rewarding career to enlist in the United States Army because I felt that I inherited the greatness of America without having done my part.” Loomis says that through his experience as an entrepreneur, including at the former TDS Guns in Loomis, he learned firsthand the difficulties business owners face. He told Gold Country Media, “While shopping at a store in Loomis, a business owner prompted me to run for council by saying, ‘we need someone like you,’ I gave it some thought and prayed about it. A few days later, I filed my election papers.” Endorsed by the Republican Central Committee Placer County, Cartwright listed some of his priorities on VotersEdge.org: be a good steward of tax dollars; protect the small-town environment in Loomis; and ensure that new tax revenues are allocated to deferred maintenance.
