MAYOR'S WEBSITE

Sean Lomen has lived in Colfax since he was 11, and his wife was born here. Now they’re raising two boys—and Lomen says he ran for city council to “help shape the future of my family’s hometown.” Lomen is the fire captain for Colfax City Volunteer Fire Department, and he works as facilities maintenance coordinator for Placer County Water Agency. He served as mayor pro tem and then was appointed mayor in 2021.

When Lomen ran for the council in 2018, he listed his priorities on VotersEdge.org: finding innovative and cost-effective solutions to wastewater and infrastructure issues; coming up with marijuana dispensary policies that fit what the majority of citizens want; and ensuring the city’s public safety needs are met. He ran for reelection in November 2022 and won another four-year term.

Notable quote: “I think the biggest issue facing Colfax right now is internally funding maintenance and repair projects for our roads. Grant funding that was secured several years ago has not been distributed. Regardless grant funding alone cannot be relied on for long term maintenance, repair, and replacement of our roads.” (Source: Gold Country Media)

The proposed ordinance would allow the city engineer to provide a letter to a property owner to notify them and document a needed sidewalk repair. The property owner would then have 90 days to complete the repair. If the repair is not made in the provided completion period, the city would repair the sidewalk and recoup the costs from the property owner. The council approved the ordinance introduction during its Jan. 8 meeting.
