North Tahoe Fire Protection District consolidated with Tahoe City Fire Protection District in 1993. Currently, the district has 70 uniformed and support personnel and protects an area of 32 square miles on the north and west shores of Lake Tahoe. There are fire stations in Alpine Meadows, Tahoe City, Homewood, Dollar Hill, Carnelian Bay and Kings Beach.
