VOLUNTEER DONATE

Food Literacy Center teaches kids the importance of healthy eating.

The mission of the Food Literacy Center is simple: Inspire kids to eat their vegetables. Its programs teach children in low-income elementary schools about cooking, nutrition, gardening, and active play. These lessons in “food literacy” educate students about the impact their food choices have on their own health, as well as the environment and the local economy.

The American food system is linked to many problems, including obesity, climate change, food safety concerns, and much more. These problems can feel overwhelming, but being “food literate” empowers people to make informed choices. The Food Literacy Center provides information in a way that’s fun, approachable, and practical.
