City of Folsom City Council Councilmember YK Chalamcherla

YK Chalamcherla first fell in love with Folsom in 2002 while attending a birthday party. Almost immediately, he put down a deposit on a home and relocated from the Bay Area. Since then, he has been active in the community, volunteering everywhere from school PTAs to local ministries. For the past several years, he has hosted California Jobs Awareness Workshops—a program designed to help individuals navigate through the job search process. 

First elected: November 2020

Day job: YK works at a Folsom IT firm

Regional council assignments: Folsom Cordova United School District, Sacramento Metro Cable Commission Board of Directors, Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (alternate), Sacramento-Placerville Transportation Corridor J (alternate)
