Sergio Robles is a first-generation Mexican-American who has lived in Elk Grove since 2011. A graduate of the nearby Hiram Johnson High School, he completed his education in Southern California. Robles is a soldier in the California Army National Guard and has served on the Elk Grove Planning Commission, where he worked to create affordable housing while also helping businesses thrive. He has also worked as an aide to Congressman Ami Bera.

While many politicians focus on hot topics like the economy and homelessness, Robles also has a special interest in something else—trees. He has recognized the poor location of many trees, and how it will eventually lead to business and home owners footing hefty bills. He is working with project managers and the city to avoid this. In his spare time, Robles volunteers with the Elk Grove Food Bank and Sacramento Rotary.
