The San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors serves as the county’s legislative body. Supervisors are elected by districts of approximately equal population to overlapping four-year terms. The county’s five supervisory districts include the following cities and communities:


District 1 - Adelaide, Cholame, Lake Nacimiento, Oak Shores, Paso Robles, San Miguel, Shandon, Whitley Gardens, and part of Templeton.


District 2 - Baywood Park, California Men's Colony, Cambria, Cayucos, Cuesta-by-the-Sea, Cuesta College, Harmony, Los Osos, Morro Bay, San Simeon, and parts of San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly State University.


District 3 - Avila Beach, Country Club, Edna-Los Ranchos, Grover Beach, Pismo Beach, Rolling Hills Estate, Shell Beach, Squire Canyon, Sunset Palisades, and parts of San Luis Obispo and Edna Valley.


District 4 - Arroyo Grande, Black Lake Canyon, Callendar-Garrett, Cuyama, Halcyon, Huasna-Lopez, Los Berros, Nipomo, Nipomo Mesa, Oceano, Palo Mesa, and part of Edna Valley.


District 5 - Atascadero, California Valley, Creston, Garden Farms, Pozo, Santa Margarita, and parts of San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly State University, and Templeton.


Board meetings are open to the public. Alternatively, the live broadcast of meetings are available for viewing on television (cable channel 21) and SLO Span’s online streaming.

Meetings: The Board of Supervisors generally meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. Check the meeting calendar for specific dates. Meetings start at 9 a.m. and are streamed over the Internet.
