VOLUNTEER DONATE

Canopy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for the urban tree canopy in the Midpeninsula region. Volunteers plant and care for trees and also share information with Midpeninsula residents on how they can enjoy and support their urban forest.

In pursuing its core mission of growing and caring for trees to improve the urban environment, Canopy also prioritizes diversity, equity and inclusion, focusing on communities with limited access to natural resources. Canopy’s four key strategies involve engagement, education, stewardship and advocacy. Its team engages with communities and builds partnerships with residents, volunteers and local community leaders. Canopy provides environmental stewardship through education on tree care as it upholds its mission of growing the urban tree canopy in the Midpeninsula.

Canopy offers educational programs that revolve around tree planting, youth engagement and community services. Speaking of the group’s goals and programs, Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian says, “Canopy plays a key role in addressing climate change and creating healthier communities.”
