VOLUNTEER

The Evergreen Initiative assists K-12 students, provides food for people in need, and serves the community in the Evergreen neighborhood of San Jose and beyond.

Founded in 2018 by a small group of high school students in Evergreen, a community in southeastern San Jose, the nonprofit group engages in community service projects. It has several areas of focus: tutoring K-12 students, conducting food drives to assist people experiencing homelessness, and cleaning up litter in parks.

The Evergreen Initiative is currently offering free classes and tutoring online during the pandemic. The teachers are student volunteers. Subject areas include math, English, history, and debate.
