VOLUNTEER

Santa Clara County Parks provides outdoors opportunities for everyone to enjoy. Since 1924, the county recreation system has grown to include 28 regional parks encompassing more than 52,000 acres of land.

The Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department’s duties are to promote and encourage public access to the outdoors, including the development of recreation and park facilities and programs. The commission provides information on outdoor activities such as biking and hiking trails, cultural venues, picnic and playgrounds, boating and fishing, dog parks, and other sports facilities. In addition, programs include:

  • Junior Ranger Program: for kids age 9-11. Explore park history and nature through outdoor adventures.
  • Education Program: Connect your class with nature and history through a field trip led by park staff.
  • Public Interpretive Program: Public events that teach the importance of environment, nature, and science. Due to Covid-19, programs are offered online.
