City of Palo Alto Planning and Transportation Commission Commissioner Ed Lauing

Ed Lauing joinsed the Planning and Transportation Commission after serving seven years on the Parks and Recreation Commission, where he dealt with a number of issues that overlap with the work of the PTC. According to his biography on the city website, Lauing has been active in many community organizations, serving as president of Palo Alto Babe Ruth for five years and as a Palo Alto Little League manager for three years.

He previously served as finance chair on the board of Palo Alto Urban Ministry and helped facilitate their merger with InnVision; he later joined the combined board of InnVision. He has had further community involvement at Congregation Beth Am, where he was a board member for five years and chair of the Social Action Committee.

Previously a CEO of three software companies, the longtime Palo Alto resident is now an executive recruiter. He has degrees from DePauw, Vanderbilt, and the University of Minnesota.
