In the 2022 election, Mark Turner beat out two veterans of the Morgan Hill City Council to win the city’s mayoral race. “We had signage out, and met and talked with a lot of people…to help them understand the vision I have for Morgan Hill,” Turner Turner told the Morgan Hill Times right after the Nov. 8 election. “We were very strong on social media. We were willing to do all of that to make sure people had enough knowledge of who I am and what I wanted to do.”
Turner has lived in Morgan Hill since 1992. Turner’s work i the community has included helping with creek clean-up efforts; raising money for Paradise Elementary School; serving on the board of his homeowners’ association. He also sits on the Board of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation, and since 2014, he has been the director of South County’s efforts for Wreaths Across America.
Former day jobs: President of the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce; associate pastor at South Valley Community Church.
Notable quote: “The mayor is in a unique role of representing all our residents, not just those in a single district. As a result, the mayor should be more present in the community, which is the main reason I am leaving my current job—to be available to residents.” (Source: Morgan Hill Times, Sept 29, 2022)
