Marilyn Librers emerged the victor in a two-way race against incumbent John McKay for Morgan Hill’s District D seat in the Nov. 8, 2022, election. Librers, a former member of the Morgan Hill City Council, is a 46-year resident of Morgan Hill who retired from Mt. Madonna YMCA and the Paucheon Research Foundation. “Although I’ve been off council I have stayed very involved with the community,” Librers told the Morgan Hill Times. “I am a 20-year member of the Rotary Club and I presently serve on three nonprofit boards of directors.” Among her priorities are “slow and controlled growth,” a healthy downtown that supports small businesses and pedestrian traffic, and “more small manufacturing and R&D facilities” in the city’s industrial areas.
Other positions held: Morgan Hill City Council (2012-2018), commissioner on the Morgan Hill Parks and Recreation Commission (six years), and Morgan Hill City Centennial Committee (treasurer). She served on the boards of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation, the Community Solutions Mental Health Agency and United Way South County.
Notable quote: “I am running for city council again as I have seen some of the challenges of Morgan Hill going in a direction I don’t believe benefit all citizens. I don’t want to lose the small town charm we all moved here to embrace. It is important the city council have respect for each other and the issues. I would like to restore integrity and trust to the city council.” (Source: Morgan Hill Times, Oct 6, 2022)
