The San Luis Obispo Planning Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the City Council for the city’s development, as set forth in the Municipal Code. The commissioners’ duties include preparing and recommending a general plan and appropriate specific plans, and reviewing the capital improvement program annually. The Planning Commission consists of seven members who are not necessarily planning professionals. Members must be residents and registered voters of the city. Members are appointed to four-year terms and are eligible for reappointment for an additional four-year term.
Planning Commission meetings are broadcast live on Charter Cable Government Access Channel 20 or can be streamed on the city’s YouTube Channel. Previous meeting videos are available for viewing. Visit Public Meeting Agendas for dates, times and other information. Agendas for regular meetings must be posted at least 72 hours in advance but are commonly posted one week in advance.
The Planning Commission meets the second and fourth Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m in the City Council Chamber at City Hall, 990 Palm St, San Luis Obispo.
