In 2024, CA voters overwhelmingly passed Proposition 36, which was designed to help combat issues surrounding theft and drug-related crimes. One of the changes in Prop 36 added a law that allowed charging individuals for a felony if they commit a theft and have two or more prior theft convictions.
Last Tuesday, both social media and news outlets had mixed reports on whether or not there was an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence in South Lake Tahoe.
