The Interfaith Food Ministry is a volunteer-based organization offering food to local communities.

The ministry is sponsored by participating local churches. About 450 volunteers participate. The ministry receives no government sponsorship, relying instead on contributions from local merchants, churches, service clubs, civic organizations, and individuals.

Interfaith Food Ministry collaborates with agencies to provide just under 600 families in Nevada County with food on a weekly basis. Executive Director Phil Alonso says that now the ministry is taking the same collaborative approach to diverting inedible organic material.
