VOLUNTEER DONATE

The Nature Conservancy in Nevada is an enviornmental nonprofit aiming to protect nature and conserve the land and water.

The Nature Conservancy protects ecologically important land for both wildlife and people, working in 79 countries to preserve and restore habitats that range from marshlands to coral reefs. Some of its recent efforts have been on using nature to mitigate flooding of the Mississippi River, restoring the Okavango Delta in Africa for wildlife to enjoy, and educating people on how to restore the natural environment in their own backyard.

The Nature Conservancy’s headquarters are in Virginia, but it keeps regional programs all over the world and within the United States. The closest conservancy office to the Lake Tahoe area is located in Reno, and its regional efforts include sharing resources about how to mitigate wildfire danger, highlighting local entrepreneurs with a focus in nature, and promoting its Northern Sierra Project—a partnership with other local land trust entities to preserve the natural lands from Lake Tahoe to Lassen National Park.
