San Joaquin County enjoys a proximity to the Bay Area and the Delta, the Central Valley’s rich farmlands and the Sierra Nevada, making it an ideal location for both agriculture and corporate economic growth. The county’s transportation network includes interstates, rail, and a deep water port that can accomodate intermodal shopping. It is also home to an airport that plays host to cargo planes. As one of the last remaining regions of California with affordable housing and Silicon Valley jobs within commuting distance, San Joaquin County is an ideal place to raise a family and enjoy a high quality of living.
County government facilities are concentrated in Stockton, which is the county seat. In addition to electing a board of supervisors to represent San Joaquin County’s five districts, voters also choose these officials: assessor-recorder-clerk, auditor-controller, district attorney, sheriff-coroner-public administrator, superintendent of schools, treasurer-tax collector, school superintendent, and superior court judges.
Quick online access is available for a variety of county services.
The five supervisors meet every Tuesday at 9 a.m. Public comments may be made in person by attending meetings at the County Administration Building, Board Chambers, 44 N. San Joaquin Street, 6th floor, Stockton. Meetings can also be watched online.
Commission hearings are generally held on the first and third Thursday of each month. Location, time, and participation information will be provided in the agenda for each hearing. Meetings are posted on YouTube.com.
