ACLU of Northern California is a nonprofit organization that "defends and preserves the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States."
Founded in 1934, the ACLU of Northern California is a leading champion of civil liberties. To stay current in changing times, ACLU NorCal recently added a reproductive justice policy director, launched a technology project for the digital age, and opened a Fresno office to engage communities in the Central Valley.
The ACLU offers abundant online resources for those seeking information, including a series of “Know Your Rights” articles covering such issues as criminal justice, civic engagement, racial and economic justice, technology and civil liberties, and gender/sexuality/reproductive justice.
