Charity Navigator Rating: 97 CHARITY NAVIGATOR REPORTFresh Lifelines for Youth is dedicated to breaking the cycle of violence, because all children deserve a second chance and past mistakes do not define them.
FLY’s core programs were originally envisioned by youths who were regretful of their past decisions and wished for change. They suggested ways to prevent others from sharing their fate, such as teaching kids about law and consequences, providing a good community, and having role models. Founder Christa Gannon took the initiative and used their ideas to create FLY.
Serving youths age 11 to 24, FLY offers programs that include legal education, leadership training, and one-on-one mentoring. Incarceration is expensive; for one-tenth of the price, FLY can motivate and support young people to stay out of legal trouble, get engaged in school, and begin to change their lives. Programs are not the only ways to get involved. Volunteering and interning at FLY can immerse individuals in diverse experiences and professional development opportunities.
