City of San Luis Obispo City Council

The five-member San Luis Obispo City Council sets the policies under which the city operates. The council adopts ordinances and resolutions, establishes city policies, approves contracts, adopts budgets, and makes appointments to San Luis Obispo’s various advisory bodies. The mayor presides over meetings and is the official head of the city for all ceremonial purposes. Council meetings are broadcast live on Charter Cable Government Access Channel 20 or can be streamed on the city’s YouTube Channel; visit Public Meeting Agendas for dates, times and other information. Agendas for regular meetings must be posted at least 72 hours in advance but are commonly posted one week in advance.
