With roots in Los Angeles, Equality California has several home bases throughout the state. This group has more than 900,000 members, making it the largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization in the nation. The goal of this organization is to bring the voices of LGBTQ+ people and their allies to the governmental powers of California and across the nation. Through advancing civil rights and social justice in a variety of ways, Equality California dreams of a world that is healthy and equal for all people.
Equality California has three different divisions:
1) Equality California is the main organization that works to bring awareness, take action, and close the gap for LGBTQ+ individuals and politicians.
2) The Equality California Institute works to reduce disparities in LGBTQ+ health and well-being, and also encourages leaders and increased civic participation within the LGBTQ+ community.
3) Equality California PACs support pro-equality political candidates running at the local, state, and/or federal level. In order to receive support, candidates must have a proven history of supporting civil rights for LGBTQ+ people.
