SOS Outreach provides outdoors education, opportunities and support for youth.
While it’s good for Tahoe kids to get regular outdoor exercise, getting them involved in a snow sports program or a hiking group can prove to be a bit of a challenge when time constraints and costs are involved. That’s why SOS Outreach formed to give all kids the ability to express themselves and thrive. Available in 15 locations across nine states, SOS provides outdoor recreation experiences for kids across all societal or financial backgrounds.
By introducing kids to fun outdoor adventures paired with positive adult mentors in communities that need them the most, SOS helps participants unleash their ability to flourish in their personal growth. SOS believes that teaching youth activities such as skiing, snowboarding, climbing, backpacking, and camping allows them to get out of their comfort zone and overcome obstacles in their activity, creating experiences and memories that translates into life skills such as becoming more resilient to bigger challenges that may pop up down the road. While out on the mountain with SOS, kids develop courage, discipline, humility, and compassion, to lead happy and healthy lives.
Based in Colorado with a program in North Lake Tahoe, SOS has given opportunities to more than 70,000 kids in its 26 years of existence.
