City of Sacramento City Council Councilmember Jeff Harris

Jeff Harris first joined the Sacramento City Council as the District 3 representative on December 9, 2014. He won reelection, unopposed, on June 5, 2018. The third district encompasses the East Sacramento, River Park, Sacramento State, Downtown, Railyards, River District, South Natomas, Gardenland and Northgate neighborhoods. One of the councilmember’s big priorities is advocating for parks and neighborhoods in his district. He helped further the development of Oakbooks Park and worked for additional parks maintenance funding, new community gardens, and more Park Rangers.

During his 2014 campaign, Harris commented on the South Natomas neighborhood, saying, "I've heard repeatedly that neighbors in South Natomas are tired, and feel beat down by the conditions in their neighborhoods—that the City of Sacramento has neglected them. I will be an advocate to empower neighborhood leaders to improve their neighborhoods, and to find funding for these improvements. If elected, I will not allow South Natomas to be the "forgotten stepchild" of the city.” (Source: Ballotpedia)

On Election Day in 2020, Harris posted to his Facebook, “Thank you Stanford Settlement, Gardenland Northgate Neighborhood Assoication and neighborhood leaders for your help in creating greater access to voters in our community.” He also posted pictures of the neighborhood volunteers at the Election Day drop boxes along with a link to help his consituents find vote centers or ballot drop boxes.
