She won her election campaign with 52.1 percent of the vote in the November general election, beating Les Simmons. Councilmember Vang seeks to prioritize public health. In March of 2021, ABC 10 wrote a story on how vaccination clinics are moving into underserved Sacramento neighborhoods. The article describes how in Vang partnered with about 14 different community-based organizations to do intentional outreach for their own pop-up clinic with plans to vaccinate 1,000 people at the Pannell Community Center.
In an an interview by Capital Public Radio about the clinic, Vang stated, “I think our community has been asking for this, and if we are truly about equity, then it’s bringing the vaccine to them, where they’re at. About over 90 percent of the folks that are being vaccinated today are from low-income communities of color with 50 percent of them who are limited English speakers.”
