Courtney Henderson ran for office on the platform of improving overall community health and long-term resiliency after having worked throughout the U.S., India and Africa in the public health and energy sectors. One reason she ran for office, Henderson said, is to create a small-business taskforce involving people from diverse sectors. This helps build solutions for everyone, she said. Active in community events and a technical adviser for the Sierra Busines Council, she holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Cornell University, a master’s in public health from Brown University, and a doctorate in public health from UC Berkeley. After serving a year as vice mayor, Henderson was named mayor in December 2021.
