The Animal Control Division operates under the Nevada County Sheriff's Office and is located in the same building. The division oversees animal control operations and the Sammie's Friends Animal Shelter contract. Animal control officers protect animals from inhumane treatment while also shielding Nevada County citizens from injury and property damage by animals. Officers educate the public on responsible pet ownership and enforce animal laws as needed.
