In San Benito County, treasurer, tax collector and public administrator have been consolidated into a single elective position with a four-year term.
The Office of the Treasurer is responsible for managing all county funds. This office is the depository for all county, school district and special district funds.
The Office of the Tax Collector is responsible for billing and collecting real estate and personal property taxes countywide.
The Public Administrator takes charge of property of persons who have died without an appointed executor or estate administrator, or whose heirs are nonresidents of California or the United States. (The administrator no longer handles indigent burials; contact the Coroner’s Office at 831-636-4080.)
