The five-member Los Altos City Council includes a mayor and a vice mayor. Members are elected at large to four-year terms in November of even-numbered years. The City Council is responsible for determining city policies and service standards, but its mission is also, according to the city’s website, the same as that of the staff, council, commissions, committees and volunteers: “to foster and maintain the City of Los Altos as a great place to live and to raise a family.”

Meetings: Held the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. Meetings can be viewed on Comcast Channel 26 or live-streamed from the city website.
