The mission of Clean Start is to "empower entrepreneurs with the knowledge, capital, and connections that are critical to creating a successful new business."
CleanStart was founded in 2005, and is a nonprofit organization that exists to accelerate clean technology development throughout Northern California. Its mission is to empower entrepreneurs with the knowledge and connections necessary to create a successful new business. CleanStart assists in the following ways:
• Connecting members of the clean tech community through regular meetups.
• Promoting various aspects of clean tech technology and economy through the annual CleanStart Progress Report.
• Educating via the CEO Crash Course and other classes that focus on informing employees, entrepreneurs and investors about the latest in clean technology.
There are CleanStart companies located all throughout Northern California, stretching as far down as Bakersfield. These companies work to benefit the environment while propelling the state forward technologically. They also hold regular events and partnerships, such as the Big Bang at UC Davis.
