Yolo Farm to Fork works to harvest quality, nutritious foods for local families and beyond.
The main goal of Yolo Farm to Fork is to teach kids where food comes from and get them excited about healthy eating by giving them hands-on opportunities to grow their own food. Experiencing gardens and farms early in life can give children a life-long passion for farming and help develop potential career goals.
Yolo Farm to Fork believes children will eat healthy and develop interest in local growing in the following instances:
Yolo Farm to Fork provides these childhood experiences by offering three programs. The PEAS Project connects local farmers to school districts, offering healthy alternatives for school lunches while educating student gardeners. The Growing Lunch program recruits students to harvest food and deliver it to their local cafeteria. And Go Visit a Farm offers cost-sharing grants to Yolo County schools to support field trips to local organic farms.
