As its name suggests, the California AfterSchool Network focuses on improving the health and well-being of young people by strengthening access to high-quality Out-of-School Time programs.

In the state of California, there are over 4,400 publicly funded expanded learning programs and thousands of privately run programs. CAN provides program practitioners, advocates, and community members with the resources to build high-quality programs.

There are three primary ways that out-of-school time stakeholders participate with the California AfterSchool Network. Subscribers receive free access to resources, such as the CAN Newsletter, social media, and information on the website. Network members actively participate on action teams and work groups. And Network leaders are members of the CAN Leadership Team.
