The Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce grows and promotes businesses and opportunities for the Hispanic community of greater Sacramento.
The Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1972 by a Catholic priest, a local councilmember, and a small group of business owners. The professional landscape of California was rapidly changing, and there were concerns about both the opportunities for and representation of Sacramento’s Latino community. This was the birth of what was then known as the Mexican-American Chamber of Commerce.
Since the 1970s, the chamber has grown exponentially and today serves Hispanic business owners through education, networking, and connecting the general community with Spanish-speaking business owners. The chamber fosters understanding, partnership, and opportunities that otherwise would not be available. The name was changed to the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in the mid-1980s to address the widened landscape of not only Mexicans in Sacramento but a large range of Hispanic cultures and nationalities.
Located right on Capitol Mall in downtown Sacramento, the chamber not only focuses on local, close-to-home issues but also on the Hispanic professional community throughout all of California as well as nationally. It is an ideal place for both professional development and friendship for the Latino business owner or anyone who wishes to understand this vibrant community.
