The five members of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors represent a county that is both geographically and demographically diverse—picturesque coastlines bring tourists, and productive farmland sends food around the world. Elected by the voters in their respective districts, the supervisors make policies for the whole county and appoint the county administrative officer, who oversees the administration of the county’s $1 billion budget, implements decisions made by the board, and coordinates the activities of other county departments to ensure the success of the board’s directions and policies. Meetings of the Board of Supervisors are open to the public; see meeting agendas for details on how to attend remotely.
