DONATE
The Yolo Community Foundation mobilizes donors and nonprofits to work together to further causes that benefit Yolo County.
Founded in 2001, a handful of Yolo County residents met to form the area’s first community foundation. An anonymous donor got the group off the ground, and open meetings began in Woodland and Davis.
By the end of 2002, the Yolo Community Foundation had gained nonprofit status, and the group began public acitivites in 2003 when grants were awarded to public school teachers through funds donated by the board.
Today, the Yolo Community Foundation is affiliated with the Sacramento Region Community Foundation and continues to propel good people and causes forward, while also encouraging residents of Yolo County to get involved in community service.
This group works with donors from both “modest and magnificent means” to establish endowed/donor-advised funds, as well as assisting those hoping to start their own private foundation. They will also direct donors to give to a variety of already established funds, including the Agricultural Heritage Fund, the Arts and Culture Fund, the Basic Human Needs Fund, or the Environment Fund.
Yolo Community Foundation also hosts the annual Philanthropy Day Celebration and several nonprofit roundtable meetings each year. It is also the home of the Yolo Youth Service Award Program, which inspires and trains up young people to get involved in serving Yolo County as valuable volunteers.
