DONATE

Opening its doors in 2009 to help cultivate a rich musical culture in the Tahoe-Truckee area, the Tahoe Truckee School of Music offers instruction on how to play an instrument (or improve one’s singing voice) through group and private lessons.

This nonprofit aims to eliminate the barriers of getting into music by making it accessible to all residents, regardless of ability, age, or financial resources. It even keeps a studio for students to record their work individually or as a group.

Its ten instructors—who teach guitar, piano, violin, drums, flute, ukulele, trumpet, and other instruments—have been trained at some of the best music programs in the U.S., such as the University of Northern Colorado, the University of Nevada at Reno, Oberlin College, and Sierra Nevada University.

When it’s safe to do so, the Tahoe Truckee School of Music will resume its classes, public performances, recitals, open mics, festivals, and community events for its students to be able to show off what they learned.
