Galt City Manager Lorenzo Hines Jr. has announced his resignation. In a written statement sent to city staff and media, Hines said his final day will be Feb. 2. The statement did not give a reason for his departure.

The Galt City Council approved a request to demolish a historic but run-down house. Since it is on the city’s list of historic structures, special permission is needed to demolish it. The council also made an appointment to the Commission on Aging.

At its July 26 meeting, the Galt Parks and Recreation Commission discussed how to prioritize youth sports groups. Parks and Recreation Director Armando Solis said his department has developed a way for sports groups to reserve fields online.

The Planning Commission unanimously voted against a request by a developer to redesign a planned subdivision originally approved by the Galt City Council in 2005. When complete, Morali Estates will comprise 50 single-family units.

The Cosumnes Community Service District will have a new manager. Phil Lewis is slated to start managing the Cosumnes Fire Department and Elk Grove Parks and Recreation on May 16.

With Measure Q tax dollars within reach, the Galt City Council voted to use the funds to double Parks and Recreation staff, which will put them back at the numbers prior to 2019 budget cuts. The Council also rejected a bond proposal.
