The Loma Prieta Chapter of the national Sierra Club serves the counties of San Mateo, Santa Clara, and San Benito Counties. The Peninsula Regional Group is part of the Loma Prieta Chapter of the Sierra Club. Its members are residents of northern Santa Clara County and most of San Mateo County.

Sierra Club has been preserving communities, wild places, and the planet itself since 1892. The club is active on the national scene and also has volunteers and staff focusing statewide on issues in California.
